Performing Arts in education provides students with the opportunity to engage their mind, body and the emotions into a collaborative and communal expression of all that it means to be human. Students explore and present great themes and ideas through performance. They discover their own voice and grow in confidence and develop empathy and ethical insight into the complexity of life.
Every two years in Term 3 the whole school develops and performs a concert incorporating song and dance numbers. Each class has an opportunity to perform as well as the school choir. These performances are complimented by students of the extra curricular music teachers who provide lessons at the school. The curriculum theme for that term is focused on Performing Arts, enabling children to learn and explore a variety of performance techniques including dance, singing and acting. Students also learn what is involved in other facets of organising and running a performance such as costume design, set and prop design and creation and back stage operation.
