School Chaplain

Hello. My name is Jacqui and I am the Chaplain at Bayswater Primary School.

I am at school every Tuesday and Friday during the school term and I work alongside our wellbeing coordinator Kelly Roberts.
My role is to support our students, families, and whole school community.
I have been at Bayswater Primary School since 2012 and I love being part of our school community.
Every day looks different for me, and I enjoy the challenges and joys that my role brings.

You can find me all over the school: from the classroom, to the soccer pitch, to the Community Garden, to the playground.
Sometimes you’ll find me eating a cheese toastie at Brekky Club, chatting with students, cutting up oranges, handing out emergency meals, making referrals or applying for funding for student swimming lessons or camps.
I also coordinate our School Brekky Club, Kids Hope program, and Community Garden.

In 2020, I am coordinating a new program called ‘Engage’ where I am working with a small group of 5-6 students per term.
The main aim of the program is to engage the students in meaningful projects around the Bayswater Primary School grounds and Community Garden.
Some of the goals of Engage include: increasing student connection and engagement at school; providing opportunities to learn new skills; developing teamwork skills; inspiring a sense of purpose, meaning and pride; providing opportunities for public speaking and promoting reflective thinking skills.

When I am not at school, I love spending time with my family.
I have two very lovely girls of my own, aged 1 and 3, who always keep me on my toes.
When I’m not playing in the sandpit or running after little people I am out running, cycling or swimming and love endurance challenges.

My position is funded by the National School Chaplaincy Program and I am employed by The Salvation Army.
