At Bayswater Primary School we are focussed on creating an environment that enables students to reach their full potential. Particular features of our school are our stimulating teaching and learning programs, a whole school welfare program and the use of interactive technologies. There are a number of programs for our new families, with the focus on the Transition between home and school:           Step into Prep program - Step into Prep flyer beginning Tuesday 15th April from 11.30am - 12.30pm The Step into Prep program gives 3 and 4 year old children valuable experience of early literacy and early numeracy concepts that will help to prepare them for transition into prep classes when they commence school. The Step into Prep program uses play based activities and the children will be learning while having fun. Step into Prep will run from 11.30am to 12.30pm each Tuesday in our Playgroup room. A qualified teacher (currently working in the Junior School) will be taking each session. To enrol for the program, please contact the School Office on 9721 3755. Pre Prep program This program begins on 30th July from 2.30pm - 3.15pm. Session 1: Wednesday 30th July Session 2: Wednesday 13th August Session 3: Wednesday 27th August Session 4: Wednesday 10th September These sessions aim to familiarize pre-school children with the school environment in a gentle non-threatening manner. Our Pre-Prep program will include a range of activities including Literacy, Numeracy, Art, Music and Drama. Children will be given the opportunity to become familiar with the surroundings and routines involved in school life and be a part of our quality teaching programs. All Pre School aged children are welcome to attend even if not intending to enrol with us for Prep in 2009.   Prep Transition program This program begins on Wednesday 15th October from 2.30pm - 3.15pm.  Wednesday 15th October - Storytelling Wednesday 29th October - Music Wednesday 12th November - LOTE (German) Session 4: Tuesday 9th December from 9.15 to 10.45am - Classroom session This program is for those children attending Prep at Bayswater P.S. in 2009 to visit the school on a regular basis during Term 4 2008. These visits provide children with the opportunity to become familiar with the school surrounds, meet teachers and students and learn some new skills. The program aims to minimise concerns your child may have when commencing school next year. Prep transition sessions include Physical Education, Library, Art, Drama, Music, Buddies, German and an extended session in a Junior School classroom.   Parents Information Night for 2009 Enrolled Preps Tuesday 2nd December from 7.00pm in the Staffroom
